way to grow! (C's 2 week well check)

Yay! Caroline regained her birth weight and then some. (In just 9 days she's put on 1 pound.) She's doing great, and we can let her sleep a little longer at night! I'm adding all of these stats for record keeping to group with Caroline's monthly updates as they come...

At birth (May 31):
weight - 8 lb, 11 oz
length - 18.5 inches
head - 14 in

Discharge from hospital (June 3):
weight - 7 lb, 14 oz (about a 10% loss)

Weight check (June 6):
weight - 7 lb, 15 oz

2 week well check (June 15):
weight - 8 lb, 15 oz (75th-90th percentile)
length - 20.3 in (75th percentile)
head - 14 in (50th-75th percentile)

{!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!}
I'm excited. After years of drooling over her amazing portraits, the Carlsons trekked down to
Angela Weedon Photography today for a family photo shoot!

While they did Caroline's newborn shots, they kept the studio a snuggly warm
88 degrees! (Anything to keep those babies sleepy!) Even though I was sure my makeup was running, and my hair was getting wet with sweat, I had to watch! It was amazing to see how they got her in all those bendy poses. I sure wish I knew how to do all that. Angie's husband, Matt, was so wonderful with Kate. She really warmed up to him, and even though she's teething and going through her "there's a new baby in the house" adjustment period, he really got her giggling!

I'll be sure and post the link to her blog when she posts our family's sneak peek! Go ahead and click the link above to get a taste of her amazing work.

p.s. I promise I asked permission before taking these pictures!

Sharing the pics off my phone since Caroline came along...

first moments holding Caroline
Nick on daddy-duty
Nick's mom (Nana) texted this one to us of Kate playing in the backyard while we were still in the hospital.
Daddy snuggling with Caroline
A Kate visit to the hospital
(We kept feeding her snacks to keep her occupied!)
Caroline's ride home from the hospital
Those are some serious cheeks! They jiggled the whole way home!

Kate loves to read in her old ducky bath tub

already holding her own bottle... so talented!
SO relaxed!
Kate just in from a swim with Daddy
Kate reading a book - Here she's saying "cat" and pointing to it.
Kate pointing out Caroline's eyes, nose, etc. She got hold of Caroline's ear here. I had to throw down the phone to break it up! Caroline didn't even notice. :)

You might be surprised how difficult these shots were to get. Not exactly what I envisioned,  but I'll take it! Kate's not the type to sit sweetly next to her baby sister to lovingly admire her. She's an active little booger, so what you don't see here is Nick "flying" her into place, holding her there for 2 seconds to try and give me time to get a shot, and making her giggle all the while. Caroline was easy; she just slept. :)
